Bayay Verde is a family-run homestay for people who want a real kitchen, a real yard, and someone who actually remembers your name by day two. It’s a five-minute walk to Tourism Road in General Luna, so you get the budget rate without living out in the sticks. Ask for Ate Dolor or Joven at check-in, they’ll sort your airport transfer and point you toward the right surf breaks and carinderias. Rooms run around 1300 a night for two, and the shared kitchen is free to use, cook your own adobo, keep your grocery bill down, just clean up after yourself (claygo is not optional, they will notice). Free coffee comes with the room. Early check-in is usually possible for a small fee if the room’s free, and staff can help arrange a scooter rental too. This isn’t a boutique hideaway, it’s somebody’s actual house with rooms rented out, and that’s the whole appeal – if you want hotel polish and aircon guarantees in writing, negotiate that before you pay, not after. Skip it if rain-season mud and the occasional construction noise nearby would ruin your week; everyone else looking for a home base with a kitchen and good people running it will be fine.
