Ocean 101 Beach Resort

Ocean 101 sits right next to the Cloud 9 boardwalk, which means you can watch the surf break from the restaurant without leaving your coffee. The infinity pool is one of the better ones on the island – big, clean, and facing the ocean. Staff are consistently friendly, even if the front desk sometimes needs a second nudge to follow through on requests. Rooms are clean and comfortable without being flashy. No phones or fridges in the rooms, and some showers have weak pressure and fixed heads (book the Waterfront Executive if you want the pool and sea view, skip whatever they’re calling the ‘surfers favourite’ room). Breakfast is included and decent – nothing to write home about, but it does the job. The restaurant over the water is worth a visit even if you’re not staying here. Pizza is good, the view is better. Just don’t come specifically for cocktails – the bar has staffing gaps and you might find no one behind it (this has happened enough times to count as a pattern).
