Sunset Surf Hostel Siargao

This is the hostel where you book three nights and leave three weeks later. It’s built for solo travelers who want a bed, a wave, and a group of strangers to become friends with by day two – shared dinners, card games, the odd party night, and enough downtime to still surf at dawn if you didn’t overdo it. Rooms are simple dorms, clean, decent space, and the kitchen actually gets used – stocked enough to cook your own food instead of eating out every meal, which matters when you’re staying a while. No hot showers, but that’s every hostel on this island, so don’t dock points for it. Staff and volunteers run the place with real warmth rather than a checklist – ask for Precious, she’ll sort your surf lesson, your questions, and your general sense of belonging. Mr Lee’s been known to make guests feel like they’ve moved in rather than checked in. There are resident cats, a chill common area, and a location close enough to the surf spots that you won’t need a scooter every day. The one real complaint: quiet hours after 10pm aren’t enforced, so if you need silence to function, bring earplugs or pick a different hostel. If you want private bathrooms and hotel polish, look elsewhere – this is a social hostel first, everything else second.
